MPD is Located off the 4-lane Mountain Parkway in Clay City KY just 40 Miles
from I-75 in Lexington, KY and 18 Miles from I-64 near Winchester, KY. MPD
boasts the best access of nearly any venue in the nation with ramps on and off
the Parkway located just beside our main gate.
Since the gates first opened in 1963 Mountain Park Dragway has been the
destination for Race Fans seeking a family oriented, professionally operated,
and centrally located Drag Strip with consistently accurate timing and a top
notch racing surface and safe shut-down length. The Kennon Family, who have
always owned the facility, retained operations in 2001 and began updating the
track immediately. Some improvements include new grandstands and bathrooms to
accommodate larger crowds, extended launch pads and concrete barriers. Some of
the most elite events in bracket racing are held at MPD because Promoters,
racers, & fans alike want a hassle free and enjoyable experience and our 50th
Anniversary Season will add even another level of excitement to the years
events!
Mountain Park Dragway opens Mid March and closes Mid November each year.
Each season’s schedule includes many high profile special events such as the
Ken-Mor Bluegrass Nationals which started in 1970 and is still considered one of
the nations most prestigious events and The Ultimate 64 Shootout which boasts a
64 Car, $50,000-Win prize and several other big money fields. MPD is an IHRA
sanctioned Dragstrip and was named the IHRA Div.3 Pro-Am Track of the Year in
2003, 2005, & 2007. MPD races 1/8th and 1/4 Mile. Our Saturday ET Point Series has the largest car counts in the region with $2,000-Win 1/8th mile delay box class guaranteed. Our Friday night T-N-T events are the favorite of the regions younger enthusiasts who Test & Tune and Grudge race their street legal cars and motorcycles on MPD’s safe 1/4 Mile and large shut-down area. On any given weekend MPD draws racers from over a 100 mile radius and consistently has cars from all over the east half of the country during big events
